Omar Infante homered to pad the Royals’ lead in Game 2 (usatoday).

The Kansas City Royals evened the series Tuesday night against the San Francisco Giants with a 7-2 victory. The Royals received a solid effort out of starter Yordano Ventura that led way for the bullpen to seal the win after the Royals offense provided relief with help from a two-run home run off the bat of Omar Infante. The series will head west to San Francisco, as the teams will compete in three games there with the potential of coming back to Kansas City for games six and seven of the series if needed.

Team effort

With great pitching on the night, the Royals were able to return the favor of the Game 1 loss to the Giants with an almost equal margin of victory in Game 2. Yordano Ventura really paved the way pitching for the club with 5 1/3 innings pitched and giving up only two runs before turning the ball over to the likes of Kelvin Herrera, Wade Davis, and Greg Holland who combined for 3 and 2/3 innings of shutout baseball.

Billy Butler played a big role in the Royals first World Series victory this season, by contributing with two RBI singles. With the pitcher hitting in the National League ballparks, Butler’s action may be reduced to pinch-hitting duties as Eric Hosmer most likely will get the nod at First Base while in San Francisco.

With extra rest since the Game 4 victory in the ALCS, the Royals Salvador Perez seems to have benefited from the days off, as he accounted for the teams only run in Game 1 with a home run, and came up big in Game 2 with a much needed two-run double. Perez’s leadership is vital to the Royals’ success and it is important that he continues to produce runs for the team to have a chance to continue to win.

Going west

The Royals had a very successful season during inter-league play, finishing the year with a 15-5 record overall. Although the regular season has no merit when it comes to the success your team will have in October, the Royals should have great confidence in their chances playing the next three games with National League rules. As I mentioned earlier, Billy Butler’s chances of starting are low with the pitcher added to the batting order. With the Royals brand of baseball of bunting and stolen bases, the pitcher can now contribute to the team’s offensive success that has got them to this point.

The Kansas City Royals won their first game in 29 years on Tuesday night. With three games ahead of them on the road, the Royals look to pull away in the series and bring the World Series Title home to Kansas City.
